Representative Donni Steele (R-Orion) recently voted to ensure that workers of all walks of life keep more of their hard-earned paychecks by upholding the “Right to Work” and prevailing wage laws adopted nearly a decade ago.

“I voted to ensure my constituents kept more of their hard-earned paychecks and keep their workplace freedoms intact,” said Rep. Steele. “Every week that goes by, Lansing politicians continue to set our state back and prevent more companies from coming to Michigan and bringing high paying quality jobs. With the majority passing this legislation, we’re sending a clear message to the job creators of the future that they’re not welcomed in Michigan.”

I came to Lansing to help make our state more competitive for job growth and let my constituents keep more of their hard-earned paychecks,” continued Rep. Steele. “This extreme measure did the opposite, setting our state back to the lost decade. That’s why I voted against it.”

The right-to-work repeal legislation is contained within House Bills 4004-05 and the prevailing wage requirement is contained within HB 4007 all advanced along a party line vote. The plans will now be taken up by the Senate for consideration.
