State Rep. Ron Robinson today announced a final agreement has been struck between the Michigan House and Senate approving critical funding for Selfridge Air National Guard Base.

“This is a huge victory for Macomb County,” said Robinson (R-Utica). “Selfridge is one of the most important military and economic assets in our state, and I was proud to help lead the fight to secure its future.”

Today, the Senate approved the House’s $152 million supplemental to fund runway upgrades and infrastructure improvements needed to support the incoming F-15EX fighter mission announced last year by Donald Trump.

Nearly three months ago, Robinson and House Republicans fast-tracked the funding plan to get construction underway and ensure the base could meet the accelerated 2028 timeline, but the effort immediately became entangled in broader Senate budget negotiations and political maneuvering.

In the weeks that followed, Robinson worked across the aisle to build support, keep negotiations moving, and ultimately help bring lawmakers together on a final agreement to protect the future of Selfridge and the incoming fighter mission.

“This was a long process, but we never stopped pushing to get this done,” Robinson said. “At the end of the day, everyone understood how important Selfridge is to Macomb County, our military families, and our national security.”

The incoming mission will help protect nearly 5,000 jobs supported by Selfridge Air National Guard Base and preserve the roughly $850 million the base contributes to Michigan’s economy each year.

“Now we can finally move forward with confidence knowing Selfridge will remain a driving force for our local economy and a critical part of our national defense well into the future,” Robinson said. “I’m proud to have worked with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to deliver this massive win for our community.”
