Rep. Bezotte’s legislative update – Jan. 11, 2024
RELEASE|January 11, 2024
Contact: Bob Bezotte

The 2024 legislative session is officially underway, and the House of Representatives reconvened this Wednesday with a unique balance of power. Following the election of two Democrats state representatives to other positions, our House now stands at a deadlock with 54 Republicans and 54 Democrats. Special elections in April will fill the vacant seats.

As someone who has consistently advocated for bipartisan collaboration on common-sense policies to improve the lives of local families, I see this as a unique opportunity for us to come together for the collective well-being of our state. The delicate balance of power demands a spirit of cooperation, understanding, and compromise.

In the coming months, my sincere hope is that we can transcend party lines and focus on the issues that matter most to people in Livingston County and beyond. From improving the safety of our communities and our schools, fixing local roads, and supporting veterans who are struggling with their mental health, there are several challenges that require our collective attention. By fostering an environment of open dialogue and collaboration, we can find common ground on key issues and develop effective, pragmatic solutions that benefit every corner of Michigan.

I invite you to stay engaged and informed as we navigate this new legislative landscape. Your input is invaluable, and I remain committed to representing the diverse voices of our community. If you have any questions or ideas, please do not hesitate to reach out to my office by calling (517) 373-3906 or emailing [email protected].
